Book Review | After receiving a Poirot-themed puzzle recently (thanks, Lauren!), I decided I’d enjoy it more if I first read a book featuring the famous detective Hercule Poirot. Rather than starting chronologically with the first Poirot novel, I chose this one based on a recommendation from a now-forgotten internet source. The mystery unfolds at a time when Poirot is already a renowned detective, drawn out of retirement by a mysterious letter warning of an impending murder. What I most enjoyed about this book was that Poirot wasn’t content with simply identifying the murderer—he was driven to understand the killer’s motivations. As the clues begin to fall into place, this question of motive becomes crucial to solving the case. This was a very entertaining read! |
