Astrophysics for People in a Hurry

Title Astrophysics for People in a Hurry
Author (The One and Only) Neil deGrasse Tyson
Call Number McNaughton
Location 1st Floor McNaughton
Rating Highly Recommended
Book Review NDT succeeds in making astrophysics accessible to non-astrophysicists, reconnecting you to your fourth grade science fair project and the great beyond. This concise yet densely-packed history of the universe is sprinkled with the author's charming, nerdy wit. It's a short read, but not for people who are truly in a hurry, or who are bound to obsess over remembering details and obscure facts (like the best shape for a productive dairy cow--a sphere)--said details and obscure facts will either fly over your head like the bodies of an asteroid belt, or collide inexplicably with your brain, sticking forever, also like the bodies of an asteroid belt. A must for sci-fi fans, the generally science-inclined, or anyone who loved the Cosmos TV series.

Oh! The most sublime experience of all was reading this book while simultaneously listening to the author's Grammy-winning spoken word performance of it on Audible. Highly recommend doing so in a hammock, surrounded by stars in a less light-polluted swath of Earth's sky. Backyards and beaches will do the trick.
