At
the same time an engrossing murder mystery, a quest for lost treasure, and a
startling look into the past, this book is one of the standards for American
detective fiction. When private eye Sam Spade's partner Miles Archer is
murdered on the job, Spade sets off into an underworld of criminals, hired
guns and thieves in an effort to avenge Miles' death. This satisfying
page-turner will keep you guessing to the last chapter.
