Book Review
Bechdel’s combination of simple illustration and introspective narration creates a strangely poignant yet clinical portrait of her father, and by parallel of her younger self. The writing is deceptively detached and occasionally painfully self-aware—this is, by no means, a comfortable book to read. Yet it provides an incredible insight not into the authors subject (her father) but rather into the author herself. Definitely recommend, especially for anyone interested in or studying LGBTQIA history, narratives, and theory.
