If you are looking for a break from harder, age-appropriate books, this is not a bad option, however, there are definitely better choices out there. Still, I enjoyed reading this book, and it definitely covered a lot of tropes that I personally enjoy such as found family, apocalyptic themes, and family secrets. Once I finished it, I realized that it was the first book in a trilogy, but I will likely not be going out of my way to read books 2 and 3.
