This program is open to everyone who has borrowing privileges at the Leatherby Libraries and a current library account, including students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Book ReviewBarbara is from Blackpool and she wants to be a comedienne, like Lucile Ball, in television. And winning a beauty contest is her ticket to London. The story recounts her solid efforts finding work and still trying to feed herself and pay the rent.
The author provides all perspectives of the writers, the producer, the TV exec, and the actors. It is smart, witty, colorful, political, thoughtful, and human.
And it was used as inspiration for a BBC series, which I quite enjoyed.
