Book Review | Luzia Cotado uses scraps of magic to get through her days as a scullion. Her mistress discovers that she is hiding a talent for "little miracles" and demands Luzia use those gifts to improve the family's social position. This garners the notice of Antonio Pérez, the disgraced secretary to Spain's king. What is supposed to be an adult fantasy historical fiction novel kind of falls flat on the history part but is otherwise good. I wish it was longer and had more details, but you can tell, the editor removed parts. |
