Book ReviewI have been wanting to read this book for a while now, and I am very glad that I finally had a chance to. Throughout the novel, Holden struggles with the idea of growing up and the uncertainty of what adulthood holds. We see him expressing his anxiety over maturing through his interactions with the numerous characters that he attempts to form connections with throughout the book, but the interactions that were particularly revealing to me were Holden's conversations with the bus drivers regarding the ducks in the lake. Holden's insistent concern over what will happen to the ducks can be interpreted as a plea for someone to explain what will happen as he grows older and to reassure him that the future will be okay. After finishing, I think that this is an important book for all young people to read as it stresses that they are not alone in feeling nervous about growing up and entering the world as an adult.
