Book ReviewAs a coming of age story set in the 1950s-60s American South, this book was groundbreaking for its themes of queerness when it was published in 1973. It was an enjoyable read for me as it is considered a "classic" of queer literature, however some of the scenes did not withstand the test of time and that is where this book fell flat for me. I loved the main character and how self-assured she was for her entire life. It was a very empowering message to hear.
