Book ReviewIsaac Asimov is widely regarded as one of the greats in science fiction, and as I read Foundation that really shone through. However, despite the fact that this book was littered with both brilliant philosophical concepts such as psychohistory and science used as a religion, and phenomenal world building that creates a whole new world, it also reads a bit like a textbook. This can be considered intentional and a part of the story, but it does make this novel a bit of a dry read. Foundation was also published in 1950, which shows in its complete lack of female characters. On the plus side, however, I did learn a bunch of new words! Overall, I do not regret reading this novel and would recommend it to sci-fi lovers who want to know more about one of the "founding fathers" of the genre but would not choose to read it again. Therefore, I do recommend this book, but mostly under very specific circumstances.
