| Book Review | Tara Westover’s memoir follows her harrowing journey throughout childhood, adolescence, and the early years of adulthood. Tara was raised by Mormon survivalists; she spent her days canning fruit preserves and laboring in her father’s junkyard, without ever stepping foot in a formal classroom. Later on, she leaves her family for the world of academia but her unique perspective is always evident. Her writing is honest as well as gripping. This is a wonderful read for college students who likely had a very different upbringing than Tara. |
