Gidget

Title Gidget
Author Frederick Kohner
Call Number PS3521.O334 G5 2001
Location 2nd Floor Humanities
Rating Recommended
Book Review Gidget tells the story of a 15-year-old living in Southern California in the 1950's who becomes entranced with the Malibu surf culture. It is told from her perspective, and if you have ever watched the TV show, you can hear Sally Field's voice come through as you are reading. It is the perfect book to take to the beach and read while listening to the ocean waves. I recommend reading the forward and introduction, which gives background information on the "real" Gidget that the story was based on.
