| Book Review | 'Matilda' by Roald Dahl is such a whimsical, fun read for the summer. It tells the story of a brilliant young girl who is ignored by her neglectful parents until they eventually send her to a school renowned for its discipline-obsessed headmaster, the Trunchbull. Dahl's writing style is uncanny, as his narrator depicts the exaggerated attitudes of adults towards children. 'Matilda' ultimately revels in the grotesque, with chapters devoted to punishment by way of cake, pranks involving newts, superglue, and bleach, and rage-fueled telekinesis. |
