Lamott’s
collection of essays is written from a decidedly Christian perspective, yet
you don’t need to be a Christian to find the human heart within her musings.
Her humor is always evident, even as she deals with the vagaries of life and
death. Her belief in a higher power does not stop her from questioning the
unfairness of it all, nor does it temper her salty tongue. Each essay has a
kernel of discovery of what it means to live a life in a world where life is
often held cheap.
