Book Review | Alison Bechdel managed to insert a lot of humor into her graphic memoir. She described the odds and ends of growing up in an immaculately restored house with a family who inherited a funeral home business. Bechdel's father was present in her life, yet very detached due to his own identity issues which were not made clear to her until she was in college. This story is tense and somber, but Bechdel is able to soften this with her humor, illustration and writing. |
