A rare genre for me, this Science Fiction title
takes place in Canada and centers on a population who live according to their
interpretation of the bible. If people are born outside of the agreed upon
"image" of god, you are sent to the Fringes to live as outcasts. All
deviations in crop harvests are destroyed, no matter the lack of food in
existence. Neighbors suspect and blatantly inspect each others crops and infant
babies for deviations and or defects and reporting to the
"authorities". The story follows several children who thought speak
with one another and question their elders and law makers, (the church) and are
found out and hunted. |
