Book Review | I first read The Lord of the Rings in my teens, and I have to say the books are much more enjoyable to re-read than they were to read the first time (which I also enjoyed). Now that I’m familiar with the characters, places, and the overall plot, I’m greatly enjoying picking up on things I had missed the first time or had forgotten about over the years (like the Barrow-downs from the first book! How did I forget about that?). Anyway, there is a lot of action in the Two Towers, and when I was younger, those were my favorite parts. This time, I found that my favorite part was the seemingly hopeless journey of Frodo and Sam as they make their way towards Mordor, pushing through their fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. |
