Book Review | 1987 marks the 35th anniversary of three fatal plane crashes that occurred in Elizabeth, New Jersey. The fact that the author was a teenager living there at the time makes the story all the more insightful as she describes the impact that these calamities had on the community. |

I
chose this book in honor of banned book week in September. I enjoyed reading
about the simple life in and around a southern community. How not knowing a
neighbor well conjures outlandish ideas. And how quickly the close community
becomes complicated and entangled during the trial. The ugly words hit so
hard when describing the negative attention placed on Atticus's kids, and how
ugly the Maycomb community becomes toward one another. Although I don't
agree, it is not difficult to believe that this book was so often challenged
by libraries, schools, and reading communities around the nation.

For
anyone interested in reading a spy novel that is all about deception and
clever espionage rather than James Bond-style action, this book is a great
choice. It centers on Alec Leamus, an aging British operative deeply engaged
with the operations within the German Democratic Republic (East Germany). You
can never quite tell with Leamus whether his disgruntled demeanor is all part
of his espionage or if he is truly burned out. His character becomes more
fascinating as the plot thickens and his personal sacrifices in the name of
duty become increasingly profound. Like the agents in the story, the reader
is always trying to piece together the complete picture, and that is what
will likely get you hooked.

My
grammar skills suck! I checked out this book to improve my grammar
skills and I was not dissapointed. Nitty-Gritty Grammar is the best grammar
book that I ever read! This book is easy to comprehend and the grammar
examples are amusing. I am going to buy this book since it only cost ten
dollars on Amazon. You should to because your grammar skills are probably
just as bad as mine!

Full
of magic and mystery, these seven Tales are an enjoyable Summer read. Each
story involves a pair of lovers and the dual nature of dark/light and
good/evil are explored as they overcome challenges. While some stories do
have happy endings, others do not.

This
is a bit of a young adult novel I would say, but I love it! You fall
absolutley in love with Charlie as it shoots my memories back to high school
nostalgia. The line "We accept the love we think we deserve"
makes me burst into tears every time I read it. I'll read this book many more
times.
